I’m Matthias Falland, Microsoft Data Platform MVP, Cloud Architect, and Trusted Advisor with deep expertise in the Microsoft Data Stack, particularly in Microsoft Fabric. My focus lies in the architecture, governance, and security of modern data solutions, always emphasizing precise terminology and exact language. Recognizing and conveying the subtle connections “between the lines” is as important to me as technical excellence.
My Philosophy#
My work is characterized by a philosophical approach to Artificial Intelligence: I understand AI not only as a tool but also as a mirror of ourselves and as a cultural phenomenon. It invites us to reflect on what it means to be human, on responsibility, and transformation. At international conferences, I therefore represent not only technical architecture topics but also engage with questions of meaning and the societal role of AI.
My presentations and contributions incorporate experiences that have shaped my voice – a voice distinguished by journalistic, theological, and pedagogical perspectives, conveying complex topics with clarity and depth.
Community Contributions#
In addition to my work as a speaker and consultant, I actively share my knowledge with the community:
- 🎤 International Speaker at Microsoft Ignite, Fabric Conference, Data Platform Conference, and more
- 📺 YouTube Content Creator – Weekly “Fabric Friday” series and deep-dive interviews
- 👥 Meetup Organizer – Running three Data & AI Meetup groups in Switzerland and Germany
- 🔬 Community Tools – Creator of Fabric Periodic Table, a comprehensive reference for the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem
- 💼 LinkedIn Thought Leader – Sharing insights and industry trends regularly
My Projects#
🎯 Fabric Periodic Table#
I created fabricperiodictable.com as a free community resource to help professionals navigate the growing Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. This interactive reference makes it easy to explore all Fabric components, understand their relationships, and discover use cases – perfect for architects, developers, and data professionals.
Personal#
I’m 48 years old, live near Basel in Switzerland, and am part of a blended family. When I’m not working with data and AI, I enjoy reflecting on the philosophical implications of technology on our society.
